Ledaig Fine Malt Selection 18 Year Old, Bourbon & Sherry Cask, 1972, James Macarthur's, 54.4%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

92 / 100

The smoke is clearly the anchor here, but it isn’t presented as a blunt peat-only style: lemon zest, grapefruit and mineral notes keep the palate bright, while wet stone and coastal hints add a cooler edge. I like that balance on paper. The nose is described as delicate despite the smoky character, and the long citrus, salt and stone finish sounds like a pleasingly focused close.
