Macallan Fine & Rare 30 Year Old, Sherry Puncheon Cask, Cask #929038, 2004, 56.5%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

91 / 100

The dried fruit and spice combination gives this a clear appeal, while blackcurrant and softer citrus add a brighter counterpoint. The touches of wood smoke and peat bring a little edge. There’s plenty in the notes, but the character still sounds composed rather than showy.
