Macallan 12 Years Old Sherry Oak Duty Free Early 2000's (1 Litre), Sherry Cask, 2000, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The dried fruit and sherry give this a clear centre, while toffee and sweet oak make the palate sound inviting. Ginger, spice and a touch of wood smoke add contrast without taking away from the smooth, balanced character described here. That combination feels approachable, with enough savoury edge to keep it from being simply sweet. A composed, appealing direction for a sherry cask single malt.
