Nikka Coffey Malt & Grain Whisky, Oak Cask, 45%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

86 / 100

The contrast is what makes this appealing: creamy chocolate and vanilla on the malt side meet the grain’s caramelized sugar, cornbread and mint. The palate keeps that softness, while orange and honey give the grain character a brighter edge. The finish moves between lingering chocolate and woody spice, then mint, floral notes and chile spiciness. It is a layered, gently varied direction rather than a coastal one, but the interplay sounds engaging.
