Penderyn Madeira, Bourbon & Madeira Cask, 2006, 46%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

85 / 100

The citrus gives this a lively centre, with orange and lemon set against the sweeter honey notes. I like that the notes don't stop at simple sweetness: oak on the nose and vanilla with a sweet dryness on the finish suggest a little contrast, though the overall character still sounds firmly fruit-and-honey led. A straightforward, appealing direction for a Welsh single malt.
