Poit Dhubh Mac Na Braiche 12 Year Old, Sherry Cask, Pràban na Linne, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

There’s a pleasing balance here between peat and sweetness: salted caramel and spiced red fruits give the palate warmth, while the peaty, savoury notes keep it grounded. The finish gets the most attention, and rightly so—it’s described as long and smoky, with lingering spice, then a slightly tannic gingery-lemon edge. That contrast makes the ending more interesting than a simple stretch of smoke. A characterful blended malt, with enough detail to reward a slow read.
