The 15-year-old Port Askaig has a clear, restrained shape: maritime smoke and soft peat embers meet lemon peel and green apple, while the palate turns toward malted grain, citrus oil and white pepper. I like that the smoke frames rather than overwhelms those brighter details. The refill hogshead is a useful point of cask context, while the appeal here is the balance of gentle peat and citrus. The drying, smoky finish rounds it out without losing that coastal character.
