The appeal here is the relationship between richness and balance. An extremely rich palate could easily dominate the conversation, but the documented balance suggests something more measured. The lingering finish also gives that richness a little room to stay. The nose is described as satisfying, without a particular aroma to latch onto, so the palate does most of the talking. I’d be careful about crediting the cask for any of this: no cask details are given, and the wood can’t make its case by implication. Although this is a peated Islay single malt, there’s no specific peat flavour described. For my taste, the supported combination of richness and balance is enough to make it appealing.
