There is an abundance of fruit here, but the way spice and oak give it structure is what appeals to me. Mango, pineapple and blood orange lead the nose alongside vanilla and toasted oak. The palate shifts to ripe red fleshed plums and black cherries, with a hint of chili oil before cinnamon, nutmeg and toasted oak come through. That progression suits my preference for vanilla, spice and oak without letting those notes flatten the fruit. The long finish keeps ripe fruit and wood spices in balance. This is a rich, layered character rather than a restrained one, yet the contrast between fruit and spice keeps the sweetness from becoming the whole story.
