Seelbach's Private Reserve 15 Year Old, New Charred Oak Cask, Batch No. 002, Seelbach's, 61.3%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The fruit character gives this bourbon a clear point of interest: dried fruit and figs on the nose, then strawberry pie and orange marmalade on the palate. That jammy side sits alongside dark caramel, tea and warming spice, making it sound broader than simply sweet. The long finish, with oak spice, melon and lingering tea, adds a more measured counterpoint. A compelling, fruit-led direction, though the tea and spice keep it from reading as purely easygoing.
