Shackleton Blended Malt Whisky, Bourbon & Sherry Cask, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

86 / 100

There is a pleasant tension here between the sweet toffee apple and the smoked lemon, with mineral water and pebbles adding a stony edge. The palate keeps that balance going through tart green apple and lightly smoked granary notes, alongside treacle toffee. I like that the smoke stays gentle rather than taking over. The finish is fairly short, but the waxy orange and prominent nuttiness give it a clear closing character.
