Singleton Auchroisk 10 Year Old, Sherry Cask, 1985, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

83 / 100

The Sherry Cask detail gives this a clear point of interest, though it does not say how the whisky was matured. The nose has sherry-influenced caramel alongside figs and milk chocolate. On the palate, the initial rush of peat and wood smoke is a sharp change from that sweeter side. The finish is fairly short, with caramel, honey and orange zest. There is plenty going on, but the smoke and brief finish make it less straightforward than the cask label might suggest.
