SirDavis Rye Whiskey, Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask, 44%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The rye spice has a clear counterweight in caramel and toffee, rather than standing alone. Black pepper, clove and cinnamon give the palate a firm edge, while citrus adds a brighter note. The finish is described as long and warming, with honey and ripe cherry softening the oak and spice. That contrast makes this an appealingly focused rye character, though the robust, full-bodied style sounds more forceful than delicate.
