Dried fruits, dates and raisins are the part of this whisky that most appeals to me. They sit alongside leather, meats and cigarettes on the nose, making the fruit one part of a more savoury combination rather than its centre. Toffee and caramel offer a sweeter contrast, while dried herbs and old books add another layer to consider. The palate is sweet and spicy, with a long finish. I like the tension between the fruit and those less familiar notes, though the savoury side makes this a less straightforward match for my taste. It is an interesting balance, rather than one I would choose for fruit alone.
