Talisker 8 Year Old, Oak Cask, 45.8%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The malted barley gives this Talisker a clear grain-led thread, set against honeyed vanilla and toasted almonds. Orchard fruit and dried apricot bring a softer counterpoint to the peat, smoke and sea-salt notes. That balance is what makes the character interesting: it moves between fruit and coastal spice without losing its malt focus. The finish keeps the toasted almond and smoky oak present. There is a lot going on, but the details stay connected.
