Teeling Small Batch, Rum Cask, 2014, 46%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

85 / 100

This is framed as an unpeated Irish whiskey, but that label alone doesn’t establish a precise smoke level; the tasting notes describe sweetness, dried fruit and spice rather than smoke. The more distinctive contrast is creamy vanilla against raisin and apricot, with allspice adding a gentle edge. The long, warming finish carries the sweetness and spice through alongside oak. It has a clear, rounded direction, though anyone choosing specifically by smoke character has little sensory evidence here to judge its intensity.
