Tomatin Old Particular 15 Year Old, Refill Hogshead Cask, Cask No. DL17900, 2008, Douglas Laing, 48.4%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

Honey and vanilla fudge set a soft, sweet opening, while almond and cinnamon bring a warmer edge. The palate shifts toward tropical sweetness and coconut sorbet, then salted caramel meets smoked black pepper. That sweet-to-spiced contrast gives the whisky a clear shape without making the notes feel crowded. Orchard fruit and nutmeg keep the finish in a lighter, gently spiced register. This balance is appealing, though the character leans more toward sweetness and spice than a sharply defined single note.
