Tomintoul Special Reserve 33 Year Old, Bourbon Cask, 2009, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

A named bourbon cask is helpful context, but it need not explain every note: the toffee and rum sit alongside cedary wood, while the palate is described as soft, sweet and fruity. Vanilla and cinnamon give that gentler character a little definition.
