West Cork Irish Stout Cask Matured, Bourbon & Stout Cask, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

85 / 100

The chocolate, raisins and cracked nuts give the nose a clear, robust direction, while citrus and malt add some contrast. On the palate, dark chocolate and coffee are joined by vanilla and orange peel, which keeps the darker notes from feeling one-note. The finish carries through with nutmeg, stout and dark chocolate. That combination sounds approachable to me, though it leans firmly toward richer flavours.
