Wild Turkey 12 Year Beyond Duplication Bourbon (1989, Japanese Export), Bourbon Cask, 1992, 50.5%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The oak has a strong presence here, from musty old oak on the nose to lingering oak in the finish. I like that it is paired with caramel and spice, while the earthy, dark-chocolate palate gives the description a different, less overtly sweet direction. That contrast makes the oak feel like part of the whole character rather than the only point of interest. The notes suggest a rich, wood-led bourbon, though the profile’s balance depends on how those darker flavours meet the caramel and spice.
