Yamazaki Spanish Oak 'Tsukuriwake' Selection, Spanish Oak Cask, 2022, 48%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

This sounds like a more layered kind of richness than a purely sweet, weighty style. Dried raisins and prunes give the nose a deep, concentrated feel, while the hints of sundried tomato add an unexpected savoury edge. I like the contrast described on the palate: decadence kept delicate by subtle acidity. The lingering acidity and slight bitterness on the long finish suggest it stays lively rather than simply fading into sweetness. A distinctive, thoughtfully balanced character.
