Description

Benromach 15 Year Old is a lightly peated Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks. This expression aims to revive the gently smoky, balanced, and layered style of Speyside malts produced before the 1960s. It has received critical acclaim, including a Platinum Award at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and being named Whisky of the Year 2020 by The Whisky Exchange.

A 15-year-old Scottish single malt from Speyside, with bourbon and sherry casks stated in its name. The sweet fruit and dark chocolate sit alongside soft peat smoke, giving it a balanced character without making the smoke the focus.

The creamy sweetness and dark chocolate give the palate a satisfying centre, while the subtle smoke keeps the fruit from feeling too soft. The finish is the useful counterpoint: medium in length, with soft peat smoke trailing into dried fruit, leather and faint clove warmth. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, but there’s enough detail in that closing mix to make this a warmly appealing Speyside malt.
