The creamy sweetness and dark chocolate give the palate a satisfying centre, while the subtle smoke keeps the fruit from feeling too soft. The finish is the useful counterpoint: medium in length, with soft peat smoke trailing into dried fruit, leather and faint clove warmth. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, but there’s enough detail in that closing mix to make this a warmly appealing Speyside malt.
