An independent single cask bottling of 26-year-old single malt from the closed Speyside distillery Caperdonich, released by Dewar Rattray under their Cask Collection. Distilled in 1980 and bottled in 2007 at a natural cask strength of 56.2% ABV from bourbon cask #7349, with an outturn of 164 bottles.

Toffee apples and vanilla ice-cream sound inviting, and I like the oak and malt alongside them. The mouth-coating finish sounds a little heavier than my usual pick, but the character still appeals.
The unpeated label is useful context, and the toffee apples with vanilla ice-cream sound like the main draw, balanced by oak and malt. It reads as a sweet, malt-led whisky rather than one defined by peat.
