A single cask Speyside single malt from the closed Caperdonich distillery, bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as release 38.18. Distilled in May 1994 and matured for 12 years in a refill hogshead before being bottled in January 2007 at a cask strength of 59.4% ABV.

The creamy toffee and lemon give the pepper and smoke a useful contrast. That balance appeals to me, though the peppery, bitter finish leans further from my usual preference for light spice.
