Description

From its Mizunara wash backs and small stills with steep lyne arms to the fact that the mashman uses a wooden paddle to stir the mash, Chichibu is a hands-on distillery with quality as an intrinsic focus. Ichiro Akuto's distillery, formed from the ashes of his grandfather's Hanyu distillery, is known for producing exceptional Single Malts. This particular release is a single cask bottling from 2012, matured in a white Bordeaux cask and bottled in 2019 exclusively for Milroy's of Soho.

lots floral honey, malt candy, milk biscuits (reminds of peacock biscuits from Taiwan), high abv delivers punchy nose.
Palate
warm attack, wraps around the mouth very nicely, licorice candy, feels like the warm fireplace in a cold winter.
Finish
long, warmth lingering around the mouth and throat. Water is not needed, the finishing keeps inviting you for another sip. Young Chichibu with top distillate.
