Description

Daftmill Farmhouse was granted a license in 2003 allowing its first distillation to take place in December 2005. As an independent distiller, owner Francis Cuthbert's main aim was to produce a light Lowland whisky, but - as the site is still an active farm - the distillery has a silent season in spring and autumn whilst work happens in the fields. This single Sherry cask was one of only two filled in 2006 and was bottled exclusively for Berry Bros & Rudd. It yielded 621 bottles. [cite: Scotch Whisky Auctions, 4, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15]

Sweetness of raisins and dark chocolate, warmth of oak, subtle nuttiness, coffee, blackcurrants, dark pralines, hint of leather, roasted hazelnuts, intense spices, grapefruit pith, cough medicine, black tea, plump raisins and sultanas, orange peels, reduced plums, air dried ham, mahogany wood panelling, leather armchairs, old books, charred cask heads, chocolate cake, Armagnac soaked prunes, bitterness from pepper and cloves.
