A Highland single malt from Glenmorangie, aged for 15 years. It was matured in American oak bourbon casks and finished in first growth Sauternes barrique casks. This limited edition was bottled in 2004 without chill filtration at 46.0% ABV.

The oak and barley give that sweetness a firmer edge, and the medium finish keeps malt and oak in view. That balance suits my preference for malt and oak without making the fruit feel like a side note. The Sauternes wood-finish name also sits naturally alongside the wine-like fruit character.

The medium finish brings malt and oak forward, keeping that firmer character in view. For my taste, the fruit and honey make this approachable, while the oak and spice add enough contrast to hold my interest. It sounds like a good fit when sweetness appeals, but a little warmth and structure are welcome too.
