The pears, pineapple and honey on the nose give this an inviting start, while the palate moves towards vinous red fruits and vanilla. I like that shift in fruit character. Oak, barley and deeply warming spice give the sweetness a firmer side, though that spice may stand out for someone seeking a particularly gentle whisky. The medium finish brings malt and oak forward, keeping that firmer character in view. For my taste, the fruit and honey make this approachable, while the oak and spice add enough contrast to hold my interest. It sounds like a good fit when sweetness appeals, but a little warmth and structure are welcome too.
