Nose
A big phenolic wallop, lemon, ham brine, cereals, citrus, iodine, vanilla, muskier fruit, salty. Salty Islay peat, burnt rice, smoke, lingering salt/seaweed. Nutty, creamy with smoke and iodine peat tang, fruity BBQ sauce notes. Rotting harbour wood, wet peat, kippers, sea salt.
Palate
Hot, expressive, approachable. Mezcal, ashy smoke, pepper, salt. Sweeter than it smells, intense saltiness turning to light sweetness (icing sugar), hint of heavy cream. Peat, tar, cask char, sea salt, orchard fruit, seaweed. Powerful notes of peat smoke, sea air, charcoal, grass, iodine, chilli oil.
Finish
Long, ashy smoke, lemon, pepper, cigarette ash, salty. Seaweed, burnt wood, medium, slightly oily, touch of bitterness. Smoky with more tasty BBQ sauce. Long, smoky, medicinal, warming, salt and spice.
