Nose: SMOKE REFINED, SOFT DELICATE HONEY NOTES ARE COMBINED WITH A HINT OF SALTY CARAMEL, SEAWEED AND SUDDENLY THE GENTLE WHISPERS OF SEA SPRAY, REMINDING YOU THAT RIPE FRUITS YOU THE BEAST IS AWARE.
Palate: YOU CAN FEEL ITS IMMENSE POWER AS IT ROARS OVER YOUR TONGUE LIKE A VIOLENT THUNDERSTORM. YOU NEED TO BRACE YOURSELF FOR THE EXPLOSION OF FLAVOURS THAT FOLLOW. THE INITIAL BURST OF INTENSELY PEATY, FIERY SPIRIT IS SOON SOOTHED BY THE HARMONIOUS BALANCE OF SWEET MALT, VANILLA AND SPICY OAK. The banana cake and orange peel give this Islay malt a clear fruit thread, while sweet malt and vanilla soften the peaty, fiery palate. Smoke, seaweed and sea spray keep the character firmly coastal rather than turning it into a fruit-led dram. That contrast is appealing, though the forceful peat seems to take the lead. A long, warming finish rounds out the impression.
