For a period, Campbeltown was the undisputed Whisky Capital of World, boasting over 30 distilleries operating simultaneously at its peak. Locally available peat, barley and coal, coupled with a quick steamship service to Glasgow meant this thriving industry lasted into the early 20th Century. Alas; ultimately (and perhaps inevitably) it proved unsustainable, and by 1935 the bubble had well and tru ... This 9 year old dram came from a refill marsala hogshead. Distilled in September 2006 and bottled in May 2016. It is one of only 276 bottles. Springbank distillery is unique for a variety of reasons: it's the oldest family-owned distillery in Scotland, 100% of the production and processes are on one site, and it's the largest private employer in Campbeltown.
