Bimber Antipodes Collection Oloroso Cask Finish 4 Year Old, Bourbon & Oloroso Cask, Cask #14/296, 2022, 58%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

84 / 100

This sounds like a whisky that takes an unusual route: glue and lip balm sit alongside kumquat and sandalwood on the nose. On the palate, syrupy fruit and brown sugar caramel meet chili heat and white pepper, while the slight drying effect keeps it from reading as all sweetness. The lingering apricot yogurt cake and cedar give the finish a distinctive thread. I like that tension, though the unconventional aromatics may be a bigger draw than an easygoing balance.
