Bunnahabhain 14 Year Old, Bourbon & Ruby Port Cask, 2024, 58.7%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

This reads as a fruit-and-chocolate-led whisky, with cinnamon and nutmeg giving the sweetness a useful bit of structure. Smoke isn’t the documented centre of gravity here, so there’s no reason to call it a smoky dram; the interest is in the red fruit, cocoa and spice instead. That contrast sounds appealing without needing smoke to do all the talking. A pleasantly focused set of flavours, and the lingering cocoa-and-spice finish is a strong close.
