The oak seems to belong here, but it doesn’t appear to crowd out the fruit. Antique oak polish sits alongside raisin syrup and orange peel on the nose; later, mellow oak tannin meets sherry-soaked fruitcake and a little vanilla-malt sweetness. That’s a pleasing balance for an Oloroso-cask whisky: the oak gives the richer fruit some structure, while the citrus lift and spice keep the description from feeling one-note. Reflective, layered character, with the wood playing a supporting role rather than taking over.
