The appeal here is the contrast between dense, dark sherry-led aromas and a palate built around chewy dried fruit, coffee chocolate and treacle scones. Cherry and a hint of young red wine then bring a fresher edge to the finish. That movement keeps the rich character from reading as one-note. It sits away from my usual coastal focus, but the shift from deep sweetness to bright fruit is compelling.
