J.J. Corry The Hanson, Bourbon Cask, Batch No. 2, J.J. Corry, 46%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The Hanson’s appeal is the way its peppery start meets a generous vanilla-and-cream sweetness, rather than letting spice dominate. Apple, peach and pineapple keep the palate lively, while warm oak and toasted notes give the sweeter side some shape. The finish sounds gently warming, with soft spices and drying tannin to balance the fruit. There is also a slight astringency in the notes, so the richness is not entirely plush; still, this reads as a thoughtful, well-balanced Irish whiskey.
