Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select, New Charred Oak Cask, 2021, 47%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The appeal here is the meeting of sweet notes and charred oak: honey, caramel and banana sit alongside charred wood on the nose, while the palate adds roasted nuts and citrus oils. The finish brings barrel char, coffee and brown sugar into the mix. That’s a more interesting direction than sweetness alone, and the oak char is the documented smoky edge to pay attention to. A warmly appealing, well-connected set of notes.
