Shortbarrel Double Oaked Series, Toasted Oak Cask, SB-4, 58.8%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The Toasted Oak Cask detail suits the clear oak thread, which carries from the nose into a palate of brown sugar, vanilla, and dry tannin. I like that the cocoa and baking spice add contrast rather than pushing the notes toward sweetness alone. The finish is described as long and warming, with charred oak and dry cocoa keeping that sweeter toffee note in check. A focused, cask-led character, though the dry tannin may not appeal to everyone.
