This is a bold meeting of sherry richness and smoke, with plums and pralines on the nose giving way to bonfire smoke, salted caramel and pepper on the palate. The character sounds powerful rather than restrained, so it may be a more imposing style than I usually gravitate toward. Still, the contrast is compelling, and the long finish brings the smoke and sweet peat back into focus without losing the peppery edge.
